I hate to be paralyzed, by paralyzing fear or paralyzing shock. I ever wondered why nature shaped up this mechanism. I understand that some creatures only sense you when you move but there could be much better solutions,I suppose. Beeing paralyzed minimizes your chances to survive in a dangerous situation.
