A numeral is a symbol used to represent a number.
The numerals we see most often are the Arabic numerals: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Less often seen these days, except perhaps on the faces of grandfather clocks, are Roman numerals: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X.
