the killer, in his frenzy, had destroyed something soul deep in those who lived around him. the viewer sensed it in the troubled glance off camera; the facial tic; the odd,inappropriate gesture: these were innocent people destined to live with a sickly sad, unearned guilt for the rest of their lives.
