The parsnip is a root vegetable. This doesn't mean that the plant lacks foliage. It simply means that those who use the plant prize it more for the properties of its root than those of its leaves. It's worth remembering this. If anyone ever calls you a parsnip then just remember that their evaluation probably reflects their priorities just as much as any characteristics of your own.
