The parsnip is a root vegetable. This doesn't mean that the plant lacks foliage. It simply means that those who use the plant prize it more for the properties of its root than those of its leaves.

Yes well what can I say? This elongated white root vegetable, available here in Australia mainly in winter, is used quite frequently to mock other people e.g. »you parsnip«. I do admit that I am obsessed with this bland vegetable, along with the humble chicken.
