When they officially announced the supposed unravelling of the human genome, one thing worried me much more than our close genetic connections with the mouse and the humble fruit-fly. I personally feared they might have erred on the low side when it was pronounced that 95.5% of the human DNA make-up appeared to be rubbish. Oh, homo sapiens sapiens, how art thou fallen....
