In the fourteenth century, in Rouen in France, the pressing theological question was whether God could divide anything into three halves. One of the arguers, Aldrovinius, was convinced that God would demonstrate the affirmative on the person of Manutius Procinus, who argued for the negative. Aldrovinius dropped dead unexpectedly, and Procinus was fatally bitten by a snake.
