Darwin didn't say that we are descended from apes rather than 'Adam and Eve.' What he said is that the process of natural selection goes back and back in time – a vast period of time. Indeed, given the most primitive form of life to require male-female sex for procreation, our common ancestors are a pair of blue-green algae. Or Adam and Eve, if you creationists prefer.
