Second

A second is one-sixtieth of a minute.

It's the smallest unit of time which most people ever talk about.

»Just a second.« they will say, or »Give me another five seconds.«

Of course, their time-keeping is rarely accurate. It's not that they are dishonest in what they say. They're just inept at estimating time.

Or they have fallen prey to the easy phrase rather than saying what they really mean.

In many sports, time is measured to a fraction of a second. Downhill skiing, for instance.
