State

This was the state of matters, on the afternoon of, what I may be excused for calling, that eventful and important Friday. I can make no claim therefore to have known, at that time, how matters stood; or to have any remembrance, founded on the evidence of my own senses, of what follows.

'The State We're In' – a well-known book written in the early '90s as trenchant criticism of the mess the Tories had made of Britain. 'The State We're Still In' – Oh Lord, the title of a book that should be written now as trenchant criticism of the continuing mess that (you've guessed it)the longed for Labour govt.........

Delaware is known as the First State, or the Diamond State, or the Small Wonder.

Minnesota is known as the North Star State, the Gopher State, and the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Illinois is known as the Prairie State.

The state I'm in
is a terrible sin
I'm wasting my life away

I'm just sitting here
with a bottle of beer
surfing the internet all day

Nevada is known as the Silver State, the Sagebrush State, and the Battle Born State.

Washington is called the Evergreen State.

The three states that are home to a Triple Crown Race are: Kentucky, Maryland, and New York.

The Kentucky Derby takes place in Kentucky.

The Preakness is held in Maryland.

The Belmont is run in New York.

Hawaii is the Aloha State.

Oregon is called the Beaver State.

Montana is called the Treasure State.
