The story of the Christmas Spider tells of how one lonely spider offers her cobweb as a silky blanket to keep the Babe in the manger warm.
Spiders are something akin to human beings they make beautiful artefacts (webs) and then do horrible things with them!! But we've had some very interesting ones in the house large ones in the bathroom and living room that seem to move with a hop, skip and jump, a crusading spider with a white cross on its back in the dining room and an amazingly long-lived female (I feel sure she was a Charlotte..) who survived well over a year in the kitchen...Whatevernext...(I knew I'd be able to use my code name some day!)
The spider makes fanciful deathtraps from which to eat its next meal.
Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating some curds and whey.
Along came a spider,
And sat down beside her,
And frightened Miss Muffet away.
The spider spun its web across the windowframe, unaware of the setting sun.
